What is Ayurveda?

Ayurvedais a word from Sanskrit, coming from the root “ayur” meaning life, and “veda” meaning science or knowledge. It translates as “the science of life” and is a natural health system originating from ancient India, practiced for over 5,000 years. More than just a traditional medicine, it is a true lifestyle that aims to create balance between body, mind, and soul.. Its holistic approach does not simply treat symptoms, but works to prevent imbalances, enhance well-being, and support inner harmony in everyday life.

Ayurveda is based on simple but powerful tools:

  • a diet suited to one’s constitution,
  • medicinal herbs and natural essences,
  • massages with warm oils,
  • internal cleansing (panchakarma )
  • the practice of yoga and meditation,
  • and above all, a lifestyle in harmony with nature.

A vision of the human being as part of nature

According to Ayurveda, every person is a unique combination of the five elements (air, fire, water, earth, and ether), which are present throughout the universe. These elements give rise to three major life energies called Doshas:

  • Vata (air + ether): movement, thought, creativity
  • Pitta (fire + air): digestion, transformation, energy
  • Kapha (earth + water): structure, stability, softness

We all possess these three doshas, but in different proportions. This unique combination defines our birth constitution, or Prakriti.. Knowing your constitution helps you to better understand your strengths, your vulnerabilities, and to live more consciously and in balance.

How to discover your Dosha?

To find out your Prakriti, you can do an Ayurvedic check-up through a test and with the support of a specialized consultant.. This assessment will provide you with valuable guidance to adapt your diet, your routine, and your wellness practices according to your true nature and the rhythm of the seasons.
